November Goals

So to get the ball rollin', November 18th it is, time to set some goals, maybe they are slightly over due but they need to be implemented!

1. Achieve 10k hands at 2nl. Status : (3,945)

2. Crush 2nl with a bb/100 of 10+. Status : (5.21)

3. Get BR upto $80 so I can step upto 4nl. Status : + $118

4. Play 50+ SnGs. Status : (38)

5. Show at least a $20 profit at 2nl. Status : (+$9.12)

So far....

After getting my BR up to $40 I had a little flitter around the 2nl cash tables but that's all irrelevant right now. I basically played CR@P! I was off sick last Monday from work, I got a little bored and found 31c in my Stars account so I thought what the hell, lets sign up for the 10c, 360 player turbo for a laugh, that laugh became quite a serious one after I ended up on the final table and ended up winning the bloody thing! Hooray my first MTT win, albeit a minor win for $8.5o but so what! With a BR of $40 that's like a 20% increase! This led to much better things though, with $8.50 locked away in my stars account I began playing 2nl FR on there, and here's the graph to show you how sick of an evening I had! I turned 31c to $18 in the space of 10 hours and my roll had shot up to $58!

Something clicked whilst playing on stars and smashing 2nl for an evening, so I went to bed and throughout the day I pondered what had happened, I actually began to pay attention an had disregarded the amount of money I was staking, i was more proud of the fact I'd played sound poker.

Another week passes, just playin' poker when I get in from work, I've reached the 3k mark in my journey. Here's how it looks

So far so good I'd say (apart from the early teething stages ;) )

My bank roll has reached that $75, now it's time to finish off and get up to $80 in another 7k hands! Feasible? I think so yes! Especially after i come 7Th in the $1,500 GP $2 re-buy on Blue Sq, netting myself $56.40! Hell yeah! I've smashed my initial target of $80 and I'm up to $130. Well what do I do now? I plug away at 2nl, increasing my bb/100, that's what I do!

Now we're up to date of where I am, it's time to look at the goals I've set myself. They'll be in the next post.

How did Project 10k begin?

2 Saturdays ago I deposited $20 into Blue SQ Poker, with the idea and goal of turning that into something special in the correct way. Sticking to strict BRM rules, i started playing at .01/.02c FR with 100b (OK so it's 10% of my roll but I need a little leeway!!). I had a most successful morning by getting my roll up to $27 in the space of a few hours. Then I got a bit bored of cash so thought I'd buy-in to the 12:15 $1, $2,000 GP Re-buy. 871 Runners there was, I'd taken an early beating taking me down to 700 chips but slowly I'd began to recuperate some of those lost chips. 3 hours down the line, I find myself coming 41st after running my AK into AA and picking up a healthy $12, thus boosting my bankroll to just under $40.

Now I'm at the $40 mark I can actually play with 5% of my roll on the cash tables. This was the best news!! I could FINALLY begin to apply BRM. High five and a fist pump. We're right where we need to be.

Project 10k

Here's my plan...I've decided I'm going to start at the bottom! Playing .01/.02c FR cash and $1 SnG's. I'm going to rack up 10k of hands on .01/02c and see how I've faired. If I'm up to $80 by that, then I'm going to go up to .02/.04 always ensuring I have 20 buy ins for cash games and so on and so forth but not increasing levels until I have the sufficient amount of buy ins AND played my 10k hands. So far I've played 2k hands in 2 weeks and my roll is at $59.

My Story

Hello. My name's Kev. I'm from a city in the United Kingdom called Peterborough. I'm 23 years old, I live with my Dad, and here's my story about trying to make something of the beautiful game we all love..Poker.

I've been playing now for about 2 years. I'm not a bad player, I've just had a terrible mind set, looking at it is as money and not Blinds or percentages of pots, this was ONE flaw, the second I think many budding players suffer from but never really do anything about...I Never once stuck to sound BRM. Here's the killer...FINANCIAL DIFFICULTY! I would play higher to win more, to sort myself out and get out of this hole, but guess what? YOU HAVE TO RISK MORE! Funnily enough, that didn't work! All my money that I'd have to buy new games for my XBOX 360 had gone to someone abusing me in the card rooms because I was trying to force action. I've played as high as $5/$10 but generally stuck around the .50/$1.00 tables. I'm not saying I always lost. Sometimes I'd made beautiful withdrawals only to re-deposit a week later and lose it after a few too many beers. I then decided to stop playing, I've read many things that can affect your Poker mind set, Financial difficulty being one of them! So i got myself out of that hole without the poker, then 3 weeks ago I decided what the hell, let's give this one last serious shot.

So..this is me, this is my ride, feel free to jump on.

Regards,

Kev 'scragbag' W
